Use Next Generation Networks to deliver High Capacity Services for out of town or Greenfield DCs

David Green is a member of the Point to Point Product Management Team for ntl:Telewest Business, responsible for Services spanning Ethernet Extensions, National Ethernet, Fibre, High Capacity Services and Leased Line solutions.
David is currently focused on two key areas for the business:
- Addressing the UK wavelength market and delivering High Capacity Service proposition into the Public Sector, Carrier and Business Markets. This has encompassed market evaluation, new product development, launch and marketing of High Capacity Services.
- Developing a Data Centre Connectivity proposition for ntl:Telewest Business to supporting the fast moving market for long distance Data Centre Interconnectivity and customer access into Data Centres.
Prior to ntl, David managed product portfolios for BT wholesale and Cable & Wireless, specialising in both Point to Point technologies and Broadband Access. David has worked within the telecoms field for throughout his working career, in areas as diverse as Military Communications, Network Security and Service Management.

Session Synopsis
ntl:Telewest Business has witnessed significant growth in demand for connecting 'out of town' data centres during 2008.
During this session we will review the key economic, regulatory and logistical drivers leading to exodus of data centres from city hubs to regional locations (including power, rent, space availability and resilience).
What challenges does this pose in terms of access, connectivity and the performance implications of data retrieval over long distances? What commercial relationships and business models are emerging between the network service provider, the data centres, their customers and ultimately the end user?
This session will show how Telecoms 2.0 is helping to enable the new transformation in the Data centre landscape.
